Many elective abortions occur every year in Italy, due to financial reasons, but Lombardy Regional President, Roberto Formigoni, believes it should be so no more. Women who cannot afford pregnancy easily, will be compensated.
While critics have said women may get pregnant for the cash, or have asked what happens after the period is over, it was recently revealed by financial firm KPMG, that the world faces economic crises in the future, due to a reduction in population sizes and growth.
The Regional President belongs to Silvio Berlusconi's People of Freedom Party. His religious affiliation, like many in Italy, is Roman Catholic. 130 000 (One Hundred and Thirty Thousand), over one tenth of a million elective abortions are reported in Italy every year, says tabloid the Daily Mail.
